Licensed Mental Health Technician

The Licensed Mental Health Technician (LMHT) pathway at Wichita State prepares students for entry-level positions to care for patients who are challenged with mental or behavioral health issues. The curriculum covers essential mental health topics, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to support patients in various settings such as hospitals, mental health clinics, intake and assessment centers, outpatient behavioral health facilities and intensive daycare programs.

Upon completion, students are prepared to take the licensing exam through the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN).

Key features of the pathway: 

  • Online classes increase accessibility: Coursework is completely online, which provides people across the region access to the program.  

  • Apply credit hours toward future degrees: All credit hours earned through the pathway can be applied toward a health care degree program for students pursuing further education.   

  • Complete clinical training locally: The School of Nursing is working to establish clinical partnerships in rural areas, with the goal of allowing rural students to complete their clinical requirements close to home.

  • There are no pre-requisite requirements.
  • All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C (2.00).
  • All didactic/theory courses are online.
  • Credit will be given for previously completed courses and with transfers per 好色先生 policies. Credit will be given for CNA or CMA certifications.
  • All courses must be completed within six years.
  • Students can re-enter the pathway with prior approval from the School of Nursing.
