Grand opening to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 好色先生 South
好色先生, 好色先生 Tech and 好色先生 Shocker Studios invite media to the grand opening of 好色先生 South, 3805 E. Harry St., on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Remarks and ribbon cutting will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a reception and campus tours at 4:30 p.m.
Wichita State offers general education classes, most classes in the elementary education completion program, and psychology classes for psychology degree completion at 好色先生 South. Most of the classes are in the late afternoon and early evenings for the convenience of students.
During the fall and spring semesters, fun, noncredit classes are available for anyone to attend.
Wichita State also partners with 好色先生 Tech and Shocker Studios at 好色先生 South to offer general education classes and technical programs and Media Arts BAA degrees. There's also a psychology research laboratory on human factors and virtual reality.
Students can train like a professional in the 35,000 square feet Shocker Studios production facility, and get the skills they need for a dream career in video game, film or recording industry.
好色先生 Tech programs found at 好色先生 South include veterinary technician, police science, EMT, interior design, pre-health courses for nursing, surgical technician and dental assistant and general education courses, including the Shocker Pathway.
Enjoy delicious food at Plaza Primo tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 18)
Plaza Primo is the first event hosted by Shocker STAT (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the 好色先生 Food Truck Plaza.
Plaza Primo is a food truck rally featuring some of the ICT's best food trucks with delicious menu items available for purchase, and activities, prizes and music provided free. The event is intended to bring Shocker Nation together over things we all love: food, friends and fun!

IEEE Eta Kappa Nu invites you to a Tech Talk by Brian McClendon, former VP at Google
Brian McClendon, former VP at Google, will present a Tech Talk at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 18) in 265 Rhatigan Student Center. He has presented to more than 8,000 Kansans in nearly 70 talks.
The frame for his STEM presentations is to give an overview of his journey as an entrepreneur, hardware-through-software; making-through-management; his startup businesses to corporate VP; and now back to KU as a research professor. The topics of focus include digital mapping, virtual reality, machine learning, entrepreneurship, innovation and the value of STEM / STEAM learning for all students.

SAC presents Samuel J. Comroe
SAC presents Samuel J. Comroe 鈥� I got 99 problems but a twitch aint one at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in the CAC Theater. Free to 好色先生 students with Shocker ID, $3 faculty / staff, $5 general admission and $1 for kids 12 and under.
Comroe is a stand-up comedian who hilariously shares his story about what it's like to grow up with Tourette's syndrome and be labeled disabled. He has appeared on the 2018 season of America's Got Talent, where even Simon Cowell gave him a standing ovation.
Physical Therapy students seek volunteers for neck pain study
Do you have neck pain? See if you qualify for a free neck massage! We are conducting a research study to determine the effects of traditional massage vs traditional massage augmented by paraffin heat pack on neck pain. As part of this study, we will collect data about cervical strength, pain, range of motion and disability score based on the Neck Disability Index scale.
The study will take place at the 好色先生 Old Town Center and participation will require about one hour of your time. We will then need you to return two to three days later to take final measurements, which will take approximately 20 minutes. Have an idea? E-Launch is for you
E-Launch has been developed to foster entrepreneurial activity that will lead to the commercialization of technology-based ideas. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Sept. 28, E-Launch sessions will be offered on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. and on Fridays from 1-4 p.m.
Through an interactive process, participants will learn to clearly conceptualize how the product or service can provide real value to customers. Participants will be shown how to validate their value proposition with customers and other stakeholders. In addition, the program will assist in the development of a business model that will deliver the value proposition to customers and provide a framework and methodology to create a viable startup company.

Jeremy David Tarrant to present Guest Artist Recital
Canon precentor and organist-choirmaster of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit, Jeremy David Tarrant directs an internationally recognized comprehensive music program. He will present a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Wiedemann Hall.
Tarrant is the founding director of the Cathedral Choir School of Metropolitan Detroit. His recent recording on the organ in the First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood in St. Louis of Widor's epic Seventh Symphony has received enthusiastic and critical acclaim in the United States and abroad.

Campus street and parking update near McKnight Art Center
A McKnight Art Center sloped window and tucking pointing project will begin today (Monday, Sept. 17). Snodgrass Construction is in need of a construction staging area located in parking lot 16S, north of McKnight Art Center, denoted in the image above.
The parking lot will have 20 parking stalls, which face south, blocked for construction staging now through Jan. 12. The four accessible stalls will not be affected.
In addition, one lane of traffic, the north lane next to McKnight, will be closed today (Monday, Sept. 17) through Friday, Sept. 21. This is so a lift can be placed in the traffic lane to reach the highest points of the building on the south side.
University Libraries to hold workshop on trademark basics
University Libraries is holding the workshop 鈥淭rademark Basics: Protect Your Business Name鈥� from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 in 217 Ablah Library. Discover the difference between a trademark, service mark, and registered mark. Then, learn how to search for existing marks and logos and walk through the online trademark application process.
This workshop is the first in the Entrepreneurship Research Series this semester. The workshops in this series are open to the public.

The Shocker Support Locker seeks donations!
The Shocker Support Locker accepts donations of food, hygiene products, textbooks, professional clothing at any time.
Donors may bring items to the Student Government Association (SGA) office in 219 RSC. SGA is also available to pick up items from donors. If you would rather drop items off at the locker, contact SGA at sga.supportlocker@wichita.edu first so that we can meet you there to log the items.
Shocker Support Locker also accepts monetary donations. Money donated to the locker is used to improve the space, acquire new equipment and purchase food and hygiene items. To contribute, .

The Shocker Support Locker was founded in 2015 by the 好色先生 Student Government Association to relieve food insecurity among 好色先生 community members. Today, the locker provides both nonperishable and fresh food items, as well as hygiene products, professional clothing and textbooks.
Individuals who would like to use the Shocker Support Locker must be currently enrolled at Wichita State as students or currently employed faculty or staff. If you fit this criterion, you are welcome to use the pantry once per week and may take up to 10 items per visit.

Grad School offers new research competition
Have you heard? The Graduate School has a new research competition this fall called the . Any graduate student enrolled in masters, Ph.D. or doctoral programs may compete.
A student's program of study must contain an original research project. The degree program need not formally require a thesis or dissertation; however, the presentation topic must cover an original research project.

Participants will be provided a design, class instructor and all materials. There are two separate class times, so please make sure you and your friends coordinate responsibly as class seats are limited. We will not be able to switch reservations.

Cybersecurity Conference coming Oct. 12-13
Wichita is hosting its first Cybersecurity Conference on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13. Join other area professionals, students and avid leaners for two days of content. We'll be at the 好色先生 Experimental Engineering building on the Friday, Oct. 12. Tracks include interactive panels with local business leaders, experts and academics, Threat Hunting workshop with RiskIQ, hands-on hacking courses, TED Talk-style security snapshots, industry and business leader technical sessions, and career growth discussions.
