In newly released national rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 好色先生 is ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, one of only two institutions from the state of Kansas to make the list.
The 2020 are based on a number of factors including reputation among peer institutions and industry recruiters, student selectivity, faculty resources and research expenditures 鈥� an area where Wichita State far outperforms peers. A recently released report of FY2017 total engineering research expenditures ranked Wichita State 49th in the nation, far more than any other institution in Kansas.

Hundreds pay respect to President Bardo during his last ride through campus
Hundreds came out yesterday (Monday, March 18) to honor and mourn President John Bardo, who died March 12. Following a private service, Dr. Bardo took one last ride through the campus he dearly loved. The funeral procession paused at five locations throughout the university as students, faculty, staff and community members stood solemnly in observation.

Friends, family and colleagues of 好色先生 President John Bardo are invited to contribute to a memorial fund created in his honor to support a scholarship named for his wife. Dr. Bardo died March 12 at the age of 70.
The Deborah J. Bardo Scholarship is given annually to an incoming freshman with financial need, with children of 好色先生 faculty or staff the preferred recipients. The Bardos created the scholarship in 2012, their first year as president and first lady at Wichita State, and it was their philanthropic priority in the years that followed.

Shockers selected for NIT; open Wednesday at Furman
Wichita State has been selected to compete in the 2019 National Invitation Tournament
(NIT).
The Shockers are seeded sixth and will travel to Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday for
a first round date with No. 3 seed Furman (25-7, 13-5 Southern). The 6 p.m. CT (7
p.m. ET) tip airs on ESPN3.
Dondlinger awarded contract for Phase V
Construction on Phase V of the Eck Stadium project will begin later this month by General Contractor Dondlinger Construction of Wichita, director of athletics announced yesterday (Tuesday, March 12). An official groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the construction site.
Birzer to be panel moderator of Wichita Public Library鈥檚 Candid Conversations
Candid Conversations - The Position of Race within the Criminal Justice System: Strategies for Reform,鈥� will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Advanced Learning Library, 711 W. 2nd Street in Wichita. Michael Birzer, professor in the School of Criminal Justice at 好色先生, will be the panel moderator.
The discussion will focus on the intersectionality of race and the criminal justice system. The panel will consist of criminal justice executives from the courts, corrections, and police. The panel is part of the Wichita Public Library鈥檚 鈥淐andid Conversations on Race series.

To honor Women鈥檚 History Month, 好色先生 Ventures and the Center for Entrepreneurship at Wichita State have collaborated to highlight influential 好色先生 women who have made a difference in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Every week during March, we will feature an inspirational Shocker for her contributions and accomplishments.
Maggie Koops is this week's feature.
Maggie has had an incredible experience on campus learning about innovation and empathetic design. She began at Wichita State as an aerospace engineering freshman working in the NIAR Wind Tunnel, and has since transitioned into the Masters of Innovation Design program, where she collaborates with students and faculty across disciplines to make the world a better place.

好色先生 presents 鈥淭he Theory of Relativity," the musical
好色先生鈥檚 School of Performing Arts will present 鈥淭he Theory of Relativity鈥�, the musical (rated PG). The musical will take place 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21 to Saturday, March 23 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Wilner Auditorium.
鈥淭he Theory of Relativity鈥� is a song cycle written in 2016 by the Drama Desk Award-nominated team Neil Bartram and Brian Hill. It is a musical written for and about college-age youth and is sure to offer audiences a new perspective on the millennial generation and the idea of infinite uncertainty combined with the logical certainty of mathematics and physics. It is an emotional and highly accessible show that examines love, friendship, parental expectations, personal aspirations and human connection.
The cast of the musical features 13 musical theatre majors (Ariel Glorsky, Natalie Carrera, Ari Chandler, Grace Roush, Courtney Wages, Katriana Kisner, Jackson Dorris, Nora Dooley, Philip Hanson, Jacob Kramer, Trevor Seyl, William Day and Lucas Lowry).
Along with the cast, the musical features a variety of talent from the design team, including Associate Professors David Neville (lighting design) and Ed Baker (set design and technical direction); and student design and technical theatre majors include Erin Mittman (stage manager), Sydney Jordan (sound design), Ali Miro (asst. lighting designer), Emily Evans (costume coordinator) and Wesley Sweigart (props).
Tickets are $20, $18 and $10. 好色先生 students receive one free ticket with 好色先生 student ID.

Faculty Artist Series presents the Orfeo Trio
The Orfeo Trio 鈥� Julie Bees, piano; Leonid Shukaev, cello; and Evgeny Zvonnikov, violin (guest) 鈥� will present a Faculty Artist Series concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, in Wiedemann Hall. The trio will perform works by Mozart, Turina and Beethoven.

Are you a fan of the Great British Baking Show or Nailed It? Mark your calendar for the University Libraries' first annual Edible Book Festival on Monday, April 1. The worlds of books and food will collide in creative and delicious ways!
You are invited to create an edible work of art inspired by your favorite book or author. Entries will be displayed in Ablah Library. Let your imagination run free. Have fun with puns or create something in the shape of a book. Entries may be made from anything that is edible (cake, bread, crackers, gelatin, fruit, vegetables, candy, etc.) as long as it can be displayed for a few hours without melting or spoiling.
Students, faculty, staff, student organizations, departments, community members - all are welcomed to enter! Please also join us for a reception.
